Bill Hoffman is awarded Life Membership of the Canberra City Band for outstanding contributions to the organisation including: being the inaugural bandmaster at the
reformation of CCB in 1947; running the band from 1947 to 1976; facilitating
the change from a brass band formation to a concert band in 1948 (making CCB the oldest community concert band in
Australia) and; researching and detailing the history of Canberra City Band. |

to its output and success over many years. His selfless devotion to duties
demonstrated by his strong leadership as Conductor, Director of Music and Music
Arranger and, in particular his passionate performance in the development of
junior musicians, have placed Canberra City Band in the forefront of community
banding and earned the respect of the Australian music fraternity. These
significant achievements have been attained in the true Australian spirit of
mateship and togetherness, and are most deserved of Life recognition. |
